Ramesh Misra, Ph.D

Semiconductor and Solar Energy Senior Analyst & Managing Director

Ramesh has been affiliated with the semiconductor industry for over 15 years, first as a researcher and a technology development specialist and most recently as a sell-side research analyst. After earning his Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University he was instrumental in migrating Silicon-Germanium IC manufacturing technology from the lab into production at Maxim Integrated Products, an analog IC supplier.

In 2000, he joined the semiconductor research team at Salomon Smith Barney, primarily covering large-cap semiconductor stocks and a number of smaller emerging companies. In 2001, the team was ranked #1 in the Institutional Investor Magazine’s annual poll. In 2004, he moved to C.E. Unterberg, Towbin (subsequently acquired by Collins Stewart) to cover small and mid-cap semiconductor names and was named a partner at the end of 2006. Over the course of his tenure at Unterberg he also diversified his coverage to include a number of Solar Energy related names and has traveled widely in China, Europe and India meeting with companies involved with the solar sector.

Ramesh’s coverage has included names such as Intel, Texas Instruments, Infineon, power-management related names such as ON Semi, Maxim, Linear, Volterra, and mixed-signal related names such as Atheros, Broadcom, and SIRF Technologies.
